The 2016 Tag-Along Tour journeyed to Coalmine NP on the Irwin River; to the Kennedy Range NP north of Gascoyne Junction and onto Mount Augustus NP. Mount Augustus is located in semi-arid country that supports wattle and cassia scrubland. Geologically known as a “Monocline”, the mountain comprises sedimentary and conglomerate rock. It stands 858m above the adjacent plain; is 2.5 times larger than Uluru and the distance around the base is 49km in length. The return walk to the top took the group 6 hours. Members also enjoyed a variety of additional walks over and around the rock.
